About Ohio Paramotor
Decades ago a Polaroid picture buzzed out of a camera. The image revealed a five year old boy named Jason Forster. He was wearing a set of wings he had built out of wood, nails and his mom’s good bed sheet. Although hunching under the heavy load, Jason smiled proudly, prepared to jump off a neighbor’s hill and fly like Super-boy. Yes, he failed.
As dreams of personal flight festered in Jason’s mind, he was still quite happy being the dirt bike kid, the skateboard kid, the kid who spent his summers on a Jet Ski and his winters ditching school for the ski slopes. With fun being the priority and often being impeded by uncooperative engines, Jason went to school for mechanics, acquiring certifications and working in repair shops. Wanting more than motors, he went to college and obtained a degree in education, working as a certified teacher in public and private schools. As an educator, summer vacations were a time to play. The opportunities allowed Jason to embrace his love of adventure, often involving long-distance trips on motorcycles, bicycles or just a backpack.
Though Jason discovered powered paragliding back in the nineties (with the Fan Man), he came to a roadblock due to the infancy of the sport. Having little desire to fly planes with their containment, he did some skydiving, but it lacked the independence he sought. He still wanted that boyhood cape! But as PPG trainers started to emerge, his dream of personal flight finally materialized. Indeed, with eyes wide and heart pounding, that first flight was unforgettable. It felt transformative. It felt like magic. Total immersion! Total freedom! Total adventure! A motorcycle in the sky!
Thousands of flights later, Jason is still longing for the next launch, still longing for the next flying adventure. In fact, over the years the sport has taken him all over the United States, from the east coast to the west coast. And throughout these travels, he has learned from a bunch of great people, acquiring instructor ratings from the USPPA and ASC. These ratings, however, are not an endpoint in Jason’s mind. He knows there is always something else to learn.
Feeling the need to follow his joy, Jason founded Ohio Paramotor. With patience and safety leading the way, he now teaches people how to fly PPG’s and gets to relive his first flight every time a new student runs into the sky. What a privilege! Honor! Jason loves what he does. It’s as if the sport was made just for him.
